The LivingSims Forum, currently has a contest running to decorate a pre-built home (downloadable for both Sims 2 and 3) and I thought I might have a go. I wouldn't usually, because there's a deadline. I'm a bit crap with deadlines. It's a personality defect that I must aim for just after a deadline, or not aim at all. Don't give me a deadline, and I'll get it done. Go figure...
Anyhoo, it's a contest that has been broken up into rounds... or rooms, so it's not like I have to get the whole house done all at once... plus - and this is the real reason why I've bothered - there's a *Just For Fun* thread, where you can just have a go and post your pictures without the fear of annihilation by everyone with much greater talent than you... and seeing as I don't do deadlines, if I can't meet a deadline, I can post in the *Just For Fun* thread... ya follow? No? Me neither.
The rules are all laid out in the Contest Thread - the requirements for Round 1 are in the... ummm... Round 1 thread. So far there are some absolutely amazing entries and I'm feeling slightly intimidated... not least because the majority have opted for English Country Cottage, and I've gone with a more Modern English Country - thankfully, the remit was for English Country, so I haven't got it wrong. But I'm thinking it does look a little odd against all the soft tones of the other rooms. Ah well, too late now... as my nan used to say "Shit or get off the pot!"
This very last picture (below) is where the inspiration for the above bedroom/bathroom came from. The website that hosts it is HERE... scroll down to the bottom.
I saw that picture yesterday on my own picture inspiration hunt. I had it bookmarked for a while too but then went with something else.
ReplyDeleteIn any case, I didn't want to comment in the actual contest post for fear of coming across all fangirly and making other people jealous (haha) but your room is by far my most favorite entry! I hope you get through to the next round and I hope you can beat these pesky deadline issue and ooooh, dare I say, win the whole thing? ;-)
Good luck!
Awwwww, Deeeeeee - I fink I love you xx
ReplyDeleteMe too Dee!! I looked at that picture too, I went with another one from Pottery Barn though.
ReplyDeleteLily I am continually amazed and astounded at the things you create without CC (i would die, literally, I think it's in my DNA now).
Beautiful room!
~Peachy
LOL, I was about to type almost exactly what Dee did...Lily, yours is my favorite entry so far (maybe because it's more modern and less cottage? Heh) but it didn't seem right to say so in the thread. ;) I love love love the bright red and the pattern you chose for the bed, and it looks so wonderful against the soft browns of the walls. Excellent work!!
ReplyDeleteThankyou my lovelies! I have to confess to being slightly dubious about my choices when all the other entries were being posted. I did use cc in this one, but I think that it's cc that's so commonly in use by everyone, that it can be mistaken for EA stuff ;0) xx
ReplyDeleteWow this is gorgeous. I really admire how you can make something so incredible in this game with minimal custom content. That alone deserves extra points!
ReplyDeleteWell thankyou, Aglaia! What a lovely thing to say :0) xx
ReplyDeleteAmazing room, I really like the bed, it looks so comfy and makes me even more sleepy than what I'm now.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Thanks ani_ ;0) xx
ReplyDeleteI'm drooling Lily, that bedroom looks so inviting, but if I came in I might not leave and you'd have to boot me up the backside to get rid of me.
ReplyDeleteAnd you, crap at deadlines? Never! ;-)
Love Ya!
Kat
LOL, Kat - you know me so well!!!! I made it through to round two, but I'm ducking out. The theme is *coastal*, and once you've seen one light house picture - you've seen 'em all.... plus I'm bored already and doing something else ;0) xx
ReplyDeleteLovely Lil' you've made a lovely room (as usual, you naughty girl!). I adore the colors and *sigh* minimal cc extraordinaire is your forte and your gift. You can do so much with so little! So I heart this room almost as much as I heart you. *hugs*
ReplyDeleteAaaawww shucks, ta Velvet my love. *Hugs* to you too xx
ReplyDeleteWell darnit, I was really looking forward to your Round 2 entry, Lily! I'm totally bummed. I understand, though -- if you're not enjoying it, why waste time on it? Ah well. You'll just have to post a ton of pics of your next project (whatever it may be) to make up for it! ;)
ReplyDeleteI didn't realise the whole thing was going to be *themed*, Jen - even though round one was. I really don't like themes, and although the entries for round 2 are all gorgeous - they kinda all look the same. Takes the individuality out of it when it's too specific. Though you really did pull the cat out of the bag for round two... too, Jen - I'm wishing you lots of love and luck with it.
ReplyDeleteLove this! I love Pottery Barn stuff and this is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThankyou - it's so nice to get comments on older posts, makes me look at them again myself :) xx
DeleteI haven't seen the bed before. Did you design it??
ReplyDeleteWish I could do some the awesome stuff I've been seeing here on your site. You are REALLY talented.
Is there a possibility of telling me where to get it to download??
Keep up the great work!!
Oh that's such a nice comment to find - thankyou very much!
DeleteI think the bed came from the store - http://store.thesims3.com/productDetail.html?productId=OFB-SIM3:37313&categoryId=11509&scategoryId=11515&pcategoryId=11510
